What Is Figma Sites?

Figma Sites is a new feature that lets you publish web pages directly from your Figma designs.

Until now, Figma has been widely used as a UI/UX design tool. But with this release, the workflow of design → development → publishing can now be completed all within Figma.

While other no-code tools like Webflow and STUDIO have been popular options for building websites, Figma already has a huge user base — reportedly used by over 90% of designers globally. That makes Figma Sites an exciting new addition for millions of users.

What You Can Do with Figma Sites (Beta Features)

Here’s a rundown of the main things you can do with Figma Sites as of its beta release:

1. Design-to-Publish, All in Figma

You can now turn your Figma designs into live web pages with a single click — no need to export, hand off code, or use another platform.

2. Build Quickly with Templates

Figma Templates

Figma provides a library of templates that help you launch polished, professional-looking sites in a fraction of the time.

3. Responsive Design Made Easy

With Figma’s Auto Layout, your site automatically adjusts for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Changes to one layout element cascade throughout the design.

4. CMS Functionality (Beta)

You can manage dynamic content like blogs and news pages. Full CMS features are expected to roll out within the next few months.

5. Insert Custom Code

You can embed HTML, CSS, or JavaScript snippets to add custom behavior to your site. (Note: Per-page customization isn’t supported yet.)

6. Use a Custom Domain

Instead of using a Figma-generated URL, you can publish your site under your own domain name.

7. Embed External Content via iframe

You can embed YouTube videos, Google Maps, and third-party widgets using iframe support.

8. Accessibility Features

Figma Sites supports semantic HTML tags and alt attributes, making it easier to create accessible web content.

9. Use Google Fonts

Google Fonts are integrated, letting you choose from a wide variety of web typography options.

10. Set Meta Tags

You can configure meta tags for SEO and social media sharing (title, description, OGP, etc.).

11. Add Animations & Interactions

You can add transitions, hover effects, and micro-interactions with ease.

12. Real-Time Collaboration & Live Updates

Multiple team members can edit a site at the same time, and changes go live instantly. Ideal for fast-paced projects or team workflows.

13. Hosting Managed by Figma

Figma automatically generates a public URL for your site — no server setup required.

What You Can’t Do (Yet)

While Figma Sites offers many powerful features, there are still some limitations — especially for more complex or enterprise-level websites.

1. No Per-Page Custom Code

Custom code can be added site-wide, but not at the individual page level.

2. No Built-in Form Functionality

There are no native contact or submission forms. You’ll need to rely on third-party services or custom integrations.

3. No Native Multi-language Support

There’s currently no built-in way to handle multiple languages or localization.

4. Limited SEO Optimization

While basic meta tags can be added, more advanced SEO features (like page-specific settings or structured data) are not yet supported.

5. No Advanced CMS Filters or Conditions

The CMS is still in beta and lacks advanced content filtering, dynamic listing, or conditional logic.

6. No User Authentication or Membership Features

There’s no way to add login systems or member-only pages.

7. No E-commerce Support

Shopping carts, checkout flows, and inventory management are not yet supported. You’ll need external tools for online stores.

8. No Plugin or API Integrations

Unlike the core Figma design tool, Figma Sites currently lacks plugin support or API access.

Summary

Figma Sites marks a major step toward a future where designers can not only create, but also publish websites — all from within Figma.

It simplifies the web development process, allowing users to design, publish, and host sites without leaving the platform. With features like custom domains, CMS (beta), responsive layouts, and real-time collaboration, it’s a powerful new tool for modern creators.

That said, if your project requires more advanced features like e-commerce, multi-language support, or complex CMS logic, it may be better to use Figma in combination with tools like Webflow or STUDIO.

Still, the fact that this is possible at all is revolutionary — and we expect Figma Sites to become even more powerful as it continues to evolve.

If you're curious, give the beta version a try and explore what it can do firsthand.
