Client Background
EARTHBRAIN is a joint venture led by Komatsu together with NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc., Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation and Nomura Research Institute, Ltd., driving digital transformation in the construction industry.
Through IoT and SaaS solutions, the company makes construction sites more efficient, transparent, and easier to manage.
Among its various products is LANDLOG, a specialized open software platform focused on landscape visualization for construction projects.
Although the technical details of Landlog are highly specific, its role is clear: it supports EARTHBRAIN's mission to modernize how construction projects are planned, visualized, and executed.
Challenge
The original LANDLOG website was built on WordPress and managed by an external agency. While functional, this setup quickly became unsustainable. The maintenance contract was costly, covering only basic upkeep, and even minor updates triggered additional fees.
Requests had to go through lengthy approval processes, slowing updates to a crawl. For EARTHBRAIN, the combination of high costs, inefficiency, and lack of autonomy made it clear that change was needed. They wanted a site they could manage internally, without vendor lock-in or excessive retainers.
Supasaito’s Approach
Supasaito was tasked with migrating the existing Landlog website from WordPress to Webflow. Earthbrain did not want a redesign or new content — the goal was a 1:1 migration that preserved the site exactly as it was.
The process included:
- Replicating all site pages in Webflow with identical design.
- Migrating around 100 CMS articles: metadata was extracted using a scraping automation, while the rich text content was transferred manually to ensure accuracy.
- Providing DNS support to guarantee a smooth and stable launch.
The project required only a kickoff call and a handover meeting. No recurring check-ins were needed, a reflection of both the straightforward scope and the trust already established between Supasaito and EARTHBRAIN.
Results
The migration delivered exactly what EARTHBRAIN needed: a cost-effective, manageable website fully under their control.
Key outcomes included:
- Significant cost savings, with no more expensive agency contracts. For example, in just five months prior to the migration, EARTHBRAIN had spent nearly ¥2.5 million on minor WordPress updates such as adding banners or creating sliders. By migrating to Webflow, these costs were eliminated, as the internal team can now handle such changes directly.
- Faster updates, as EARTHBRAIN’s team could now make changes directly in Webflow.
- True independence, aligning with the company’s strategy of building in-house digital capabilities.
A notable aspect of the project was the scraping automation used to extract CMS data. This was the first time Supasaito applied such a method, and it proved efficient, reducing manual work and ensuring data accuracy.
Ongoing Relationship
While the LANDLOG migration was a self-contained project, it reinforced Supasaito’s position as a trusted partner. EARTHBRAIN has since continued to collaborate with Supasaito on multiple initiatives, building on the confidence established through this successful migration.
